The Shooting Stars kicked off the 2007 Summer League season in the best way possible with a win. A 5-2 victory over FC Anakara was enough to ensure maximum points and buck the disappointing trend of losing on opening day in prior seasons. The Stars were up 1-0 at the end of the 1st half with a goal from Caleb Peterson. Additional goals from Fatai Alabi and Rotus Oddiri midway through the 2nd half made it 3-0. FC Anakara, playing with 10 men throughout the entire game, made things interesting by pulling 2 goals back and reducing the deficit to only a single goal later in the 2nd half. The Stars however, played with enough composure to regain control and two more goals from Rotus Oddiri restored the 3 goal cushion and wrapped up the victory. The win should increase confidence within the squad ahead of their upcoming Memorial Cup Tournament taking place in Dallas. MVP: Rotus Notable Mentions: Wole, Fred & Winston |
