News - Interviews: Justice
Welcome to this week edition of interviews with SSFC players. Joining our ranks of MVPs is the one we call Justice. J, as we call him, has scored 5 goals as a midfield with SSFC and it was because of a goal or 2 at a particular game that we decided to give him the award. Enjoy.

Mr. MVP Can you tell us your Name and a little bit about yourself?
Well, my name is Justice Akuchie. I am full-bred Nigerian – born in Houston but grew up in Nigeria through Secondary school. Studied Chemical engineering at the University of Houston and now I work as a Process Engineer with Siemens Energy & Automation- my job is to prevent plants from blowing up; In my spare time, I like to conjure ways of making extra money – hasn’t worked out yet

How does it feel being SSFC's MVP for the week?
It feels nice especially since we won the game but in all honesty, the entire team played extremely well. We totally outplayed the top-placed team in the division

How do you see SSFC as a team?
We are a good collection of talented players with the potential to be a great team once we mesh. We have matured considerably from the beginning of the season. For example, we maintained our composure after falling a goal behind to grab our first two wins. We are also getting better with our disciplinary issues, which really helps with performance and morale on the pitch.

Considering SSFC's recent performance, where do you think SSFC will finish on the table at the end of the season?
We are on a four-game winning streak despite not displaying our best efforts in the last 2 games. Hence, I can boldly predict a top-3 finish. In fact, finishing on top is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Considering your Team as it is now; what is your team’s weakest point , and in which areas would you like to see some improvements?
I think our weakest point is lack of concentration and trying to do too much as individuals rather than playing team ball

Why is your team all male?
Umm, our division is an all-male one. Females are definitely welcome as team officials, supporters and massage therapists

Would you like to see it integrated?
Massage therapists? Definitely!

I apologize. I meant would you like to see the Team become integrated?
You mean, play in a Co-Rec league as opposed to all-male? Umm, we could try forming a second team for a Co-Rec league

How hard is it to make time for SSFC?
It is tough since the games are played on Sunday. Being a Christian, games have caused me to miss church a couple of times and I do feel guilty about it. Also, it is tough to make practices on Fridays or Saturdays since I have a busy schedule and travel quite a bit

To better understand you, can you tell us your most embarrassing moment?
Once during General assembly in Secondary school (I was in SS-2), someone in my class heckled the Principal and I was wrongly accused. I would not give up the real culprit so I was slapped, punished on stage and had my shirt taken off.

Which Soccer game do you wish you could have been present when it was being played?
Nigeria coming back from 3-1 to beat Brazil at the 1996 Olympics semi-final in Atlanta

What do you think is the greatest Soccer moment?
This is a little futuristic, but it will have to be Nigeria winning the world cup in South Africa in 2010

Where do you see yourself in 10 years and how do you intend to get there?
Wow, it is difficult to imagine myself 10 years from now. On the personal side, I hope to be married to a sweet beautiful woman and have a couple of kids. Professionally, I hope to own a few businesses in the Oil & Gas sector while working for OPEC or Nigerian Ministry of Petroleum. I intend to get there by pursuing a Masters degree in Business Administration or Economics in the UK after acquiring a lot of technical/management experience at my job.

Why the UK for your Masters?
International experience - Oil & Gas is a global business

If you create your own team with you and any 10 players (retired and still playing) in the world, who would you choose?
Goalkeeper – Peter Schmiechel
Defense – Paolo Maldini, Marcel Desailly, Lilian Thuram, Cafu
Midfield – Diego Maradona, Zinedine Zidane, Dunga, Myself
Forwards – Ronaldo, George Weah

Any wise words for your fans and admirers out there?
Stay focused and put in a 100% effort in all worthy endeavors
